Since 1 October 2026, Flensburg's accommodation tax is 6.25% of the gross overnight room rate including VAT. It applies to both leisure and business stays. This tax is not included in the displayed room rate and is charged in addition.
What is included in the tax base?
The tax is 6.25% of the accommodation charge including VAT. Meals such as breakfast are excluded from the tax base. Optional extras, such as separately booked parking, follow the city’s rules; bed linen, towels and final cleaning are included in the tax base.
Statutory exceptions remain, including overnight stays that meet a basic need for housing under section 2(3) of the by-law.
